Curriculum Vitae

Eduard Geyer (junior), who joined the Waldmark Horn and Markomannia secondary school fraternities during his school years, studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna after graduating from high school. He joined the student fraternity Austria Wien in 1930.

After graduating, Eduard Geyer (junior) was a trainee civil servant at the Ministry of Finance. In addition to his professional activities, he is involved in the Christian-German Gymnastics Association and in the military associations of the Heimatschutz.

He reports on March 11, 1938: "Towards evening, I received an order from the district command of the front militia to scout the mood in the surrounding villages and possibly bring reinforcements for the militia units already stationed in Tulln. By this time, Schuschnigg had already given his famous farewell speech and there was no longer any willingness to join the front-line militia; on the contrary, I kept noticing trucks with swastika-flag-waving occupants moving towards Tulln. I hurried back to Tulln and reported this to the district governor. A band was already marching on Tulln's main square and the gendarmes were taking swastika armbands out of their pockets."

The next day, Eduard Geyer's (junior) father and on Sunday (March 13, 1938) he himself were arrested and taken first to the community detention center in Königstetten and then to the district court in Tulln. The reason given for his imprisonment was to protect him from the angry population. In prison, he met his father as well as other respected personalities, including Governor Josef Reither and Professor Heinrich Dopplinger among the 30 or so men. After a few days, Eduard Geyer (junior) is released following a declaration of loyalty.
