Curriculum Vitae
Gottfried Jenewein attended the Franciscan grammar school in Hall/Tyrol and in 1877 joined the Sternkorona Hall, a secondary school fraternity that still existed in secret at the time. After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Innsbruck and became a member of the student fraternity Austria Innsbruck in 1897.
As presiding judge, he had to conduct numerous trials against National Socialists in the 1930s, including for explosives offences. He was therefore arrested immediately after the Anschluss. Although he was soon released for health reasons, he was forced to retire.
He was unable to cope with the fact that his son Theo Jenewein, also a member of the student fraternity Austria Innsbruck, was also politically persecuted and arrested, and died on September 25, 1941 on the street from heart failure, or "a broken heart".
